I am a mother to three, loving wife, former air traffic controller, and an enthusiastic baker. When we’re at home, the kids, our Great Dane Zoey, and our nine chickens keep me busy. In those wonderful downtime moments, I enjoy photography, playing Uno with the family, quilting, or relearning how to play the piano.
Most weekends we try to escape to our camper, where we swim, bike, fish, and go boating in the summer. In the winter we ski, snowmobile, ice fish, and enjoy the quiet. Campfires and S’mores are a must year round.
In our family, I’m not going to lie, my husband does the majority of the cooking while I take care of any baking needs. Part of wanting to do this blog was to expand my horizons with cooking beyond just Googling a recipe every night. I was always amazed at how my grandparents just seemed to know how to cook without needing recipes, and I’m hoping by going back to simpler times I can learn the basics, too.
As for the name of this blog, it comes from when I was a child. As a kid, I thought when my parents said, “absolutely not” that they were actually saying, “apple lucy not.” It has been a family joke ever since. So here I am, “apple lucy” cooking my way through the decades and learning lots in the process.
