chicken and carrots pin

Today’s recipes from The Good Housekeeping Woman’s Home Cook Book, 1909 edition, are Chicken Terrapin and Savory Carrots. The Chicken Terrapin is an excellent way to use up leftover chicken or buy pre-cooked chicken, saving time on the prep work for this dish. And don’t let the simplicity of the ingredients fool you. This dish was flavorful and a hit with the family.

The Savory Carrots were delicious and a beautiful plate of food. If you’re looking for a healthy side dish, this would not be it. The flavor is enhanced by a decent amount of butter used when cooking the carrots. But I’m ok with that after trying this dish. Splurging on occasion with a rich side dish like this is worth it.

I’ll be back on Tuesday with two more recipes. Meanwhile, I hope one of the four I’ve posted so far has piqued your interest!
