For my inaugural post, I wanted to share Boston Cookies and Pineapple Punch from the 1909 The Good Housekeeping Woman’s Home Cook Book. I choose the cookies for two reasons: they’re named after my hometown and I love cookies. For the most part, this recipe was pretty straightforward. The only experimenting I had to do was with the oven temperature since that was an available oven feature in 1909.
I choose the Pineapple Punch because I was intrigued by the description of a pretty violet drink. While it didn’t come out the color I was anticipating, it was still a pretty shade of purple-red, and the drink was delicious. Our family of five easily finished the batch in less than 24 hours.
I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I did. Be sure to leave a comment and rating on the recipe page. And check back on Friday for two more recipes!
